Abstract
The purpose of this study is to analyze the effectiveness of school culture in shaping students’ attitudes toward responsibility at Seroja State Elementary School, Serang City. This research was conducted using a qualitative method, employing a case study approach. The research subjects were 35 sixth-grade students and one teacher from Seroja State Elementary School, selected using purposive sampling technique. Data was analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model after being collected thru non-participant observation, documentation, and structured interviews. The research findings indicate that school culture at Seroja State Elementary School plays a significant role in enhancing student responsibility thru practices of discipline, openness and inclusion, ethics and integrity, student empowerment, and an engaging learning culture. Thru role modeling, open communication, real-world examples, and consistent rule enforcement, teachers and principals provide character reinforcement. Student behavior changed, including the ability to admit mistakes and comply with school rules. The results show that a positive, consistent, and inclusive school culture works well in shaping elementary school students’ attitudes of responsibility.
